Great Scots

I was invited to a spectacular corporate event on Monday. It was a charity fund-raiser that also celebrated the re-launch of Cameron House under the De Vere brand. Golf was at the new Carrick course at Loch Lomond and there was a host of Scots sporting stars, including the group below, who were watching a Paul Lawrie school:

(George Burley, Bernard Gallacher, Walter Smith and Sir Alex Ferguson, with Alan Wells in the background if anybody doesn't recognise them).

Each player had a caddy and each team was drawn to play with one of the sports celebrities - we had Frank Hadden, who was a really nice, down to earth guy:

Gavin Hastings, who plays off 6 at Muirfield, won the individual stableford with 34 points and also had the longest drive with a hickory driver - we all had to have a go - I managed about 150 yards!

The black tie dinner in the evening was hosted by Andy Cameron and Ian Robertson, and entertainment included Eddie Reader & Fairground Attraction, and was followed by a midnight fireworks gala.

They say there's no such thing as a free lunch - but this was pretty close - and it was a lot more than lunch!
