Myrtle Creek

Played beautiful Myrtle Creek (http://www.myrtlecreekgolf.com/) yesterday - Syd knows it well and, in fact, recommended it to me - it's just a country course but with great changes in elevation - peaceful with wonderful wildlife - swooping turkey vultures, wild turkeys roaming and these little beasts all round - this was on the first tee. It's 2-3 feet long and it's just a baby - Daddy is more than 4 feet long. I'd always believed them to be muskrats, but I was told yesterday they were a different species, imported about a century ago as the beaver population was on the wane. Their pelts, however, are apparently not as good as the beaver's - but I can't remember what they are called - and the internet hasn't helped - does anyone know what they're called?:




For once, the air was clear of skunk, but there were some pretty tame deer - this was taken from just a few yards away - doe and foal, with another one lurking in the woods:
