DCX first day of competition

Our first competitive round was at Tecina on the island of La Gomera so we headed off to the port of Los Christianos and carried our golf bags on to the ferry. It was a lovely day and a beautiful sail across and we got picked up by a Merc and a mini-bus and hared off to the golf course to try and make our 10:40 am start. We got there - just, but it was a bit harem-scarem at first - especially when we found out we only had 4 buggies, so that meant for us to play in our two 3-balls, somebody would have to walk - Dick readily volunteered - once you've had a ride up to the 1st tee, it's all downhill from there, so he enjoyed the walk.

The course was looking its usual splendid self and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Richard's tee shot at the 9th made him play his 2nd from an awkward place:

Here's one of me outside the clubhouse at the end:

Despite our very best efforts, it was Nigel who triumphed again:

The drive back to the port of San Sebastian de Gomera was a bit more leisurely and we enjoyed the spectacular views of the gorges and across to Tenerife and Mount Tiede:

On the ferry back, it was all a bit much for some of the older members of our group:

We decided to dine in the hotel again - this time it was Las Rocas - and after dinner, we heard some music coming from the adjacent Cafe de Paris, so some of us went along to listen, whilst others took a more participative role:

Today we head to Amarilla - can we stop the Meany express?
