The Challenge 2009

It was a beautiful sunny day, albeit with a cold northerly blowing when we started. Here's the first match out, with RoW represented by Gary (his country of choice being NZ), and Dave (Canada), against Malcolm and I:

Rob always makes a show of his Anglican roots - one flag wasn't enough for him:
An assorted aggregation of bodies on the 1st tee:

The previous day's high winds had led to some structural damage - this tree on the 3rd hole being one of the casualties:

Malcolm didn't hit the best of tee shots at the 8th - his ball rebounded from the trees on the right. Here he is getting ready to play his 2nd shot, surrounded by assorted debris:

This is the second group finishing off at the 18th:

Jack did well in the match but his tee shot at the 17th wasn't his Sunday best - here he is playing his 2nd shot beside the ladies' tee:

Rob hot-footed it in to the changing rooms after his match - my pleas from the balcony above to get him to give us a smile falling on deaf ears:

The first ladies' team at the 17th:

and the 2nd ladies' group, minus Jenny who was a late withdrawal:

At least Keith and John stopped to smile for the camera as they came off the 18th:

On the other hand, Jas seems to be striding away from the 18th green as quickly as his new hip will take him, while Jack can't help but display a little smirk behind him:

Finally, the winning team (minus Ken B) pose on the steps after the buffet:

Hugh insisted that the losing RoW team (minus Rob) also get a chance to pose on the podium:
