Tuesday was our first day's golf at our home resort of Palmeraie. Just 8 of us played as Nigel was detained by something he called "work". Of course, there had to be a team line-up:
There was some confusion about the appropriate dress code - Jas, Dick, Richard and Keith are all wearing their DC XI uniforms, but I thought it would be better if we had waited until Nigel arrived, so I'm modelling the Desert Springs gift I received last October.
Keith receives the first 2010 BSV ball from a rather reluctant and miffed Malcolm, who had just been pipped on countback:
Lunch on the terrace, washed down with local (bottled) beer, was followed by an afternoon back at the Village, then G & T at ours again, before heading back to the hotel for the teppanyaki table. It was a very swish restaurant with a very unusual feature in the gents loos:
It may not be immediately obvious from the above photo, but the dark panels in the tiled wall are, in fact, mirrors placed strategically about 3.5 feet above the trough of the urinal, so, if you can figure out the geometry, you can imagine what you are viewing when you pee! Very strange.
After our meal, we retired to the very smart main hotel bar, where cognacs and cigars were the order of the day for some:
... and that was day one over. We returned to the Village, where Nigel had just arrived, having flown in from Aberdeen, via Heathrow and Casablanca - but not before there were a couple of reportable incidents, including some smashed glass and a nasty fall on a kerb.
