Greatest courses in Europe?

Golf World published what they regarded as the top 100 courses in mainland Europe:

By my reckoning, I think we have played just 9 of these courses - some of the names have changed a little, so I can't be absolutely sure, but these are the ones I think we've been to:


  • 23. Palmares
  • 24. San Lorenzo
  • 42. Sotogrande (Old)
  • 53. Quinta do Lago
  • 54. Abama
  • 89. La Reserva
  • 91. Cornelia
  • 96. San Roque
  • 99. Carya
Just 91 to go then.

Yesterday, Ian Sharp, John McWhinnie and I played in a Seniors Texas Scramble at Insch - which we all thought was a thoroughly enjoyable course to play, and the format was great. Just past the first tee was a sign none of us had ever seen on a golf course anywhere:
