We were once again yesterday blessed with decent weather for the 10th playing of the Scotland v. Rest of World Challenge Match - and a good turnout of 28 golfers too - tie-ing the 2010 attendance record.
Over bacon butties, Eileen displayed her allegiance:
Syd threw down the Gauntlet - in a virtual manner - and soon we were off to the 1st tee, where there was no doubt as to where Chris' loyalty lay:
The first group of lower handicappers were off before I could get a proper team photo:
Group 3 were behind me, so I got this shot of them from the 2nd tee:
I was in the 2nd group, partnering Gordon and playing against Double Agent Archie - who, yet again was representing Thailand - and the ever-entertaining Hugh, who didn't take long to give us a photo opportunity. At the 5th hole, he had a "Ladies", and then tried to make up the lost distance with an almighty heave with his second:
Hugh very nearly repeated the feat at the 15th:
The 5th group at the 18th hole:
A few drinks in the clubhouse, joined by some of the non-golfing ladies, and a 2 course buffet lunch, was followed by a nice speech by Rob before I announced the results. I think everyone in the room knew by now that Scotland had wrested the trophy back from the R.o.W. - it was just a matter of how many. The official result was 15 holes to Scotland, versus 6 to R.o.W., with Scotland also winning the matches by 5-2.
Nice end to the golfing season.
