We'd last played Santa Clara when it was newly opened at the start of the Millennium. It was certainly more open than the previous 3 courses and allowed the big hitters to open their shoulders - although some of them fared better than others. You can probably guess who fell in to which camp from this photo at the hotel pool bar afterwards:
Harry was probably still thinking about what we all thought was a superb drive at the blind downhill par-5 on the front nine. He lost his ball here, but the views were lovely:
Here's the others back at the pool bar:
The leader board is getting tighter after 4 rounds:
Davies, John | 104 |
Stewart, Ian | 101 |
Bhagrath, Jas | 101 |
Salter, Harry | 99 |
Grigor, Malcolm | 97 |
Taylor, Dick | 94 |
Freeman, Syd | 91 |
Page, Ken | 86 |
Street, Peter | 80 |
John and I have a 22-point score to drop (hopefully), while Jas has 20, Harry 21 and Malcolm just 19.
The Medium Handicappers still lead, despite today's win by the Low Handicappers but the gap is just one point now, with the High Handicappers adrift a further 2.5 points behind.
Harry still leads the Eclectic:
Salter, Harry | 45 |
Bhagrath, Jas | 44 |
Grigor, Malcolm | 43 |
Stewart, Ian | 43 |
Davies, John | 43 |
Page, Ken | 42 |
Taylor, Dick | 40 |
Freeman, Syd | 37 |
Street, Peter | 34 |
Santa Maria tomorrow.
