Myrtle Creek buggy drivers

Unexpectedly, I sneaked in another game of golf at Myrtle Creek on Saturday before we left to come home. My son-in-law and his brother-in-law and I played the back nine first of all and we whizzed round OK. We then played the 1st and 2nd holes but came across an almighty hold-up at the par 5 third hole - a dogleg.

We waited and waited for ages and it was only when we finally got on to the fairway that we could see what the problem had been:

How they did this, God alone knows - you can see there is a buggy track right next to the creek, which, fortunately was dry. Two good ole country boys were in the cart when it went down head first and they gave themselves a nasty thump which required a call back to the clubhouse for some medication. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured and after about 40 minutes rest, the old guys continued their round.

The cart, however, had to remain there - nobody could get it out:

Now if this were ever to happen to any of us - particularly on a Quaich night, or at the Iberian Cup when the Wee Cup is played for - there would be no doubting who the "winners" would be!
