IC XI - day 4

The weather continued to be brilliant as we set off on the first of 2 consecutive away days - this time to Aguilon, which we subsequently discovered is the 2nd toughest golf course in Spain - harder even than Valderrama.

At the 1st tee, there was a mini weather station - the reading was absolutely zero rainfall and wind - just sunshine all the way:

We had some time to wait on the 1st tee and Jas decided to survey the challenge ahead:

The course was tough - lots of ravines to cross - this one was fairly straightforward, however - a short par 3. Malcolm is crossing over the bridge back towards the 5th fairway:

Meanwhile, Jas, Syd and Keith waited on the tee:

The round took five and a half hours and the lost ball count threatened the legendary total of 69 recorded in our first trip to Monte Mayor back in 1998 - it was just 5 short at 64. Our return coach was waiting and we had to scurry back to our resort pretty quickly, leaving no time for doing the prize-giving, so Syd presented Keith with his ball back at our villa:

In the evening, there was a bit of a schism, with most of us getting a bit stir crazy eating in the resort night after night, so we headed off to a local fish restaurant, while the others went back to eat at the Crocodile Club again. The fish restaurant was excellent - the waiter let us see the choice of fish available before cooking - John Dory and Turbot were the favourites. We retired to a local street bar afterwards and chewed the fat for a bit as we waited for our return coach:
