Whilst Rob was taking the photo of me beside the stricken tree at the 8th, I was taking a close-up of the same tree:
Was it vandalism, exceptional weather, or just sheer bad gardening when it was planted? - I'll let you be the judge.
Well done to John - his first outing of 2010 and a win, a 40 pointer and the best score so far this season under his belt already. It was John's first weekly win since 1st August, 2007. The defending Quaich champion also clocked up a 40 pointer and is obviously up for retaining the trophy this year.
Ian had the additional consolation of the best gross so far this year - 75 - albeit we haven't had our lowest handicappers out this season yet.
At the other end of the spectrum, my playing partner was sweating for a while, but, in the end, Jack got him off the hook on countback - his first DoD since 19th August last year - and now shares with Les the highest DoD score this year - 26.
7 players have now taken part in all 3 weeks that play has been possible this year and they obviously lead the chart at this stage:
1 Sharp, Ian 109
2 Cook, Archie 106
3 Taylor, Dick 105
4 Meaden, John 104
5 Salter, Harry 103
6 Dring, Ian 96
7 Gray, Les 83
8 Gray, Keith 73
9 Stewart, Ian 68
10 Bhagrath, Jas 64
11 Corbett, Daniel 63
12 Pollard, Rob 63
13 Simpson, Jack 53
14 McWhinnie, John 41
15 Black, Ken 34
16 Grigor, Malcolm 31
