Q7

From http://bsvgolf.blogspot.com/

Rob seems to have relinquished his reporting role this week, so you'll have to make do with me - he handed me the list of scores last night, indicating to me to get on with it. Well, here goes.

It was yet another cool, but thankfully dry and bright, evening as 14 intrepid souls ventured out for Q7 (miserable attempt to emulate Rob-speak). Steve Fulford made his first outing in the Quaich since 2007, following his return from KL and we set off in 4-3-3-4 formation after Rob pulled the balls out of the bag just before 5:30 pm.

This shot of Dick and Archie leaving the 7th tee demonstrates how bright - and how cold - it was:

Finally, I have a new camera and it has an interesting sweep/panorama effect, which I'm still trying to learn how to use to full effect. Here was my first attempt last night walking down the 10th fairway:

You don't get the full impression on the Blog, although you do get some kind of idea.

Mr Pollard was more than happy to play the fool as he spotted me in the distance zooming in on his group on the 8th tee:

You cannot see the face, but the hockey-style follow-through on the 11th tee is distinctively Dring:

Behind us, Jas looked a little lost as he waited for his playing partners to play:

The scores on the doors last night were:

1 Corbett, Daniel 42
2 Taylor, Dick 36
3 Simpson, Jack 36
4 Black, Ken 36
5 Bhagrath, Jas 36
6 Dring, Ian 34
7 Sharp, Ian 33
8 Gray, Keith 32
9 Moir, Gordon 32
10 Stewart, Ian 30
11 Pollard, Rob 30
12 Cook, Archie 29
13 Fulford, Steve 29
14 Meaden, John 27

It was Dan's first win since 10th June last year - and it was only his 3rd ever - the previous win was in 1994! (He's only played 20 or so games in that time, however!) It was also his first 40-pointer since records on this began in 2004, and brought the total for this season up to 4. Dan also had the distinction of recording the season's highest points total so far.

At the foot of the table, it was John's first DoD since 29th July last year. A bit like Dan's wins, John's ratio of DoD's to appearances is running a little over the 10% rate as he fast approaches his 100th appearance in the Quaich. John also had the "honour" of taking over at the top of the highest DoD score of the year - so far - a title he last "won" in 2004.

Dick did the honours afterwards - although Jas looked blissfully oblivious to what was going on:

One last shot in the lounge, using the panorama effect again:

So to the revised leader board:

1 Taylor, Dick 216
2 Sharp, Ian 207
3 Cook, Archie 205
4 Meaden, John 194
5 Dring, Ian 193
6 Gray, Keith 170
7 Stewart, Ian 168
8 Simpson, Jack 161
9 Pollard, Rob 143
10 Black, Ken 121
11 Corbett, Daniel 105
12 Salter, Harry 103
13 Bhagrath, Jas 100
14 Gray, Les 83
15 McWhinnie, John 76
16 Moir, Gordon 64
17 Riches, Hugh 33
18 Grigor, Malcolm 31
19 Fulford, Steve 29
20 McRae, Ian 26
