Down Under

From http://bsvgolf.blogspot.com/

Greetings once more from Adelaide. You probably won't be surprised to hear that, when we were over in Perth last week, staying at the beautiful Vines resort (http://www.vines.com.au/Golf.aspx) which has 2 great courses, one of which used to host the Johnnie Walker championship, despite me not having any gear with me, I finally succumbed on our last day before travelling back to Adelaide, and booked a tee time - with hired clubs, pond balls and trainers.

It was lovely. I played in the afternoon and there was nobody else around - Mad Dogs and ...... There are more kangaroos on the course than there are rabbits back home. On every tee you see them sitting under the trees, oblivious to human presence. Occasionally they bound across the fairway to seek water from the fairway sprinklers with their little Joeys bouncing along behind them - fascinating.

My caddy/co-pilot came along and read her book and photographed all the wildlife and vegetation whilst I played 2 balls off every tee. Here we are on the 10th tee:

I had at one time thought that I might get a game with Duncan Mitchell, who is now resident in Perth, but, just as I got in touch, Duncan fell prey to that well-known Banchory Veterans' ailment - snapped Achilles tendons. He did it last Wednesday playing football (soccer), joining a long list of Vets who have done the same thing on the squash court or the 5-a-side pitch.

That's all for now - our time here is coming to an end - back in the UK next Tuesday and looking forward to playing on Banchory's summer greens.
