DC XIII - day one

From http://bsvgolf.blogspot.com/

Greetings from Belek, Turkey. We returned to the Cornelia Diamond Hotel as we had all enjoyed it so much last year. This time around we were joined by Dan and Kenneth (Gray) - Keith's brother.

It was an early morning flight from Glasgow on Thursday so we went down on Wednesday night and had dinner with my brother-in-law at the Fox and Hounds, home of the Houston Brewery. A few pints and the Chelsea - Barcelona match made for a fine evening.

The travel over went fine and we were in our hotel by mid-afternoon Turkish time, being greeted with glasses of champagne as we registered.

The all-inclusive concept works well, particularly when some enjoy fancy cocktails:

The first day's golf on Friday was at the Robinson Nobilis course, where we took the obligatory team photo:

Dan was wearing longs because his shorts had - and I quote - "worn out"! He intended to buy a pair at the pro shop but the price tag of €85 put him off a bit.

The holes were all named - Pine Tree Nightmare, Greenkeeper's Revenge etc, and a few of them had a music theme, including Highway to Hell etc. When we got to the 18th tee, a welcome sight:

Nothing much changes - despite the alleged handicap of a sore knee, Syd was the winner on the day with a superb 37 points, with Kenneth (21 handicap) a very respectable 34 points. Malcolm got 30 and the rest of us were nowhere. Here's the presentation:

A beautiful day and a very nice course, that, despite the relatively poor scores, didn't actually beat us up too much.

Having had dinner at the amazing buffet on our first night, on Friday we went to Sapore, the Italian restaurant down at poolside level. After dinner, back to the bar and some took to the dance floor:

Today we're off to Tat - hope they have cheap outsize shorts available!
