Greetings from the relative calm of the Lounge at Istanbul airport as we wait for our connection back to Edinburgh. I've retired here to get some wi-fi and write the match report.
The last 2 days' golf were at the magnificent but difficult PGA Sultan and a return to Gloria Old respectively - and Malcolm won both of them with 30 and 32 points, so it will come as no surprise who the overall winner of this year's Iberian Cup was.
The weather was terrific again - and the humidity had dropped with no distant rumbles of thunder. Keith decided he needed protection:
Here's Malcolm receiving his (virtual) winner's ball at the Sultan:
Dan posed for a "before and after" shot outside our resort:
We had lunch on Sunday at the Italian restaurant and Malcolm finally received the real prize balls for Saturday and Sunday from Les and Harry:
The prize-giving for the week was held in my villa before departure at an ungodly hour to the airport. We already know Malcolm won the event (for the 3rd time), whilst the absent Nigel (who had to catch a flight back to Dubai) was second, 8 points behind Malcolm's Top 4 score of 134, with Les 2 further points behind. Nigel had the consolation of winning the Eclectic competition with 52 points, one ahead of Malcolm and 2 ahead of Bill.
The guys kindly bought me a shirt (modelled below) for organising the week and I then presented Malcolm with (a bit of) the trophy - the rest is still with our local engraver!:
It was a bad week for Scotland all round - we lost the match against R.o.W. by 15 and a half to 7 and a half. Let's hope for better things next Sunday.
