Europe's Top Courses

Golf World this month published a list of what it regards as Europe's Top 100 courses:

Banchory Squash Veterans still have a lot of work to do - we've only played 10 of these courses on our various overseas tours:

  • San Lorenzo
  • Sotogrande (Old)
  • Antalya (PGA Sultan)
  • Quinta do Lago (South & North)
  • Carya
  • Cornelia (Prince)
  • Abama
  • La Reserva de Sotogrande
  • San Roque (Old)
I'm sure many of us have also played other courses on the list individually (La Manga for me) but it's amazing how few we've done as a group.

What's also interesting is the changing geography - at one time, all the good courses were on the Iberian peninsula, but, looking at the map, they're all over Europe now:
  • Spain (18)
  • France (17)
  • Portugal (13)
  • Netherlands (8)
  • Sweden (8)
  • Turkey (5)
  • Italy (5)
  • Belgium (5)
  • Denmark (5)
  • Germany (4)
  • Switzerland (2)
  • Austria (2)
  • Finland (2)
  • Norway (1)
  • Estonia (1)
  • Slovakia (1)
  • Slovenia (1)
  • Greece (1)
  • Bulgaria (1)
We've been to Spain, Portugal and Turkey but France is the obvious omission from the top of this chart.
