Desert Classic XVII 2016

The journey on Sunday went well enough and we met up with Les and John D at Faro airport early afternoon. Some of us went grocery shopping whilst others checked in to the Victoria apartments before heading for the bar in the Tivoli hotel to watch the Spurs - Man U match.

Some Guinness in an Irish Bar preceded dinner at A Paisagem then it was back to the Tivoli to watch the Masters. Every step of the way involved alcohol of all shades and types, so we were a little less than sharp at breakfast this morning (Monday). Les' pal, Bob Irvine, joined us to make up two fourballs at Victoria.

The weather forecast for this week is far from great and we watched with some trepidation as a virtual monsoon passed over as we were having breakfast, but when we played, it wasn't too bad and we mostly dodged the showers and saw plenty of sunshine too. Here's the teams lining up on the first tee:

Clear winner on the day was our guest Bob, with 34 points:

I got one NP and Dick got the LD. The 1st team had the best aggregate score.

Back at the apartments we snoozed and swam before congregating for G & T's before dinner at Casavostra, an excellent hamburger joint with some nice local artisan beers. Tomorrow Palmares.
