As you can see, it was still a little misty at the start, but easily warm enough for all bar Archie and Keith to don shorts. Les had got his friend Terry Scanlon, a 6 handicap local St Andrews member, to join us to make up the numbers.
Whilst the rest of us watched as one of the trees beside the tee was professionally felled, Rob went boat spotting whilst waiting to tee off:
Scores on the day were pretty good generally, with only one in the 20's, but John Meaden came out on top, courtesy largely of some superb long-range putting. Here's the individual scores:
John | 39 |
Dick | 38 |
Chris | 36 |
Rob | 36 |
Ian | 34 |
Terry | 33 |
Les | 33 |
Jack | 33 |
Syd | 32 |
Peter | 32 |
Archie | 31 |
Keith | 29 |
The first NP was won by Dick and the second, plus the LD, by Terry. The team prize went to the first team out of Les, Dick, Terry and Keith, despite them having the lowest aggregate points score. Their best 2 at each hole totalled 92 points - one ahead of Rob, Peter, Chris and Jack, with Archie, Syd, John and I trailing behind with just 85.
