Terry Edmonds' Memorial outing 2021

Here's Malcolm's match report from yesterday's outing: "A great day at Aboyne yesterday saw 10 of us enjoy glorious conditions and a golf course in remarkable shape, seemingly fully recovered from the unprecedented frost last winter. Despite the perfect conditions, nobody managed to play to their handicap, with the Banchory contingent bemused at getting 1 or 2 strokes less than at home. Keith Murray was welcomed back on a rare trip north and duly collected the 2 nearest the pin prizes. The ` Maestro ` Syd was also welcomed back and I am sure was chuffed to win the longest drive. Gary unfortunately went off injured, but it made the arithmetic easier for the Team Prize which was won by Team 2 - Gordon, Hugh and myself. Keith Murray also came 3rd overall (32) with myself in second (33) and, taking the trophy , hard on the heels of his St.Andrews triumph was Ian Stewart (correction - it was Ken B this year) with a modest 34 points. It was close to the 20th anniversary of Terry`s passing and we were joined as usual by Linda, who kindly donated and presented the prizes. A couple of days to recover then off to Boat of Garten !! 🙂" Here's Linda presenting me with the trophy, with Gary photobombing as usual:
and now the team:
Malcolm is correct - yesterday was our 20th attempt to play this event. The first outing in 2002 was rained off, as was the 2009 event - and last year's Covid lockdown caused us to miss another year. On three occasions a 40+ point score has been required to win the trophy - Les in 2006 (42), me in 2008 (41) and Malcolm in 2014 (40). Malcolm has won his "home" event 5 times and Paul, Les, Keith and I twice each, with solo wins from Dave (RiP), Harry, Archie and Ken P. Many thanks to Linda for again donating the prize balls - and to Malcolm for organising the event - and the superb weather.
