DC XI - day 5

Unlike other mornings which had started off cool and then heated up, we awoke today to a hot wind off the Sahara - it was oven-like early in the morning. The drive to Amelkis was familiar as it's just across the road from Royal Marrakech, albeit Amelkis (http://www.golfmorocco.com/Amelkisgolfclub.aspx) is a more modern facility, as opposed to RMGC which is a members club built in 1923.

Here's our leader at the start:

The main challenge was the fierce wind and Malcolm managed to contain his latent power to score a wonderful 32 points in very difficult conditions and easily picked up the winner's ball for a second time:

In the evening we bussed back in to the heart of the Medina again. Richard was in charge and took us towards the central square for a walkabout and a hunt for a suitable restaurant - it had to be one that supplied alcohol as well, of course!

It was the end of a holiday weekend and the place was mobbed. It was nice strolling around and getting the sights, smells and sounds of the city. Lots of outdoor eating places:

and street entertainers:

We were approached by several budding entrepreneurs who spotted an opportunity with our group of 9, and eventually we settled on one of the somewhat shady looking individuals and followed him off the main drag and through the back streets to the restaurant he happened to be promoting that day. It looked a little dodgy initially, but he took us up to the rooftop dining area, which was covered by what resembled an ornate Bedouin tent:

The starters were served up in mini tagines:

Surprise, surprise - they had a belly dancer too. She worked the tables and decided to pick on Malcolm at ours:

Note Richard looking on lasciviously - it wasn't long before he volunteered himself as the next in line - but, dancing on the floor? Nah, that's for wimps - up on the table you get my dear - and don't forget that Richard was a gymnast:

Dan later showed them all how it should be done - and then we were off back to the Village again. Another grand evening.
