Fraserburgh outing

From http://bsvgolf.blogspot.com/

It was our first Fraserburgh outing yesterday since 2006. It had formerly been a regular fixture on the calendar, but, for various reasons, it had dropped off the schedule in recent years. Anyway, it was great to be back there - and what a super day we chose - wall to wall sunshine. The course was looking good as well - partly due to the policy of repairing your own divots that has been in place there for a number of years. I first saw it there and advocated it to Banchory a few years ago, but nothing ever happened until we were told earlier on this season that it was finally to be put in place - although nothing seems to have happened yet.

There was plenty of soil and seed available at Fraserburgh yesterday, but there was a dearth of bags at the start - just one, in fact!:

The greens were good - and fast. In fact, even the fairways must have been running at about 10 on the stimp-meter!

Here's the team line-up at the start:

After golf, we hared back to the Redgarth and sat outside for the prize-giving:

Winner on the day was Dick with 33 points, and his team with Syd and Bill comfortably beat Archie, Peter and I. NP's were won by Syd and I, with Bill getting the longest drive - the second successive occasion he's done that, as Bill himself pointed out. Here's the full scores:

Taylor, Dick 33
Stewart, Ian 31
Freeman, Syd 29
Miller, Bill 28
Street, Peter 27
Cook, Archie 26

We had supper inside at our favourite round window table - very sociable it was too:

We might manage another outing to the Broch later on this year - watch this space.
