Yes - it was our 54th official outing to Boat of Garten and, although numbers were at an all-time low (just 8 of us), we were all in good spirits when we arrived at Grantown (for the 19th time). The temperature was fairly modest but it was dry at least. Here's the two groups heading off:
It did get warmer later when the sun came out, but Malcolm was having some problems at the 10th:
After golf, we checked in at our hotel, then, as usual, we headed down to the Ben Mhor for some ale. It had been a very busy weekend in Grantown, with Motormania and the Cairngorm Food Fair both taking place. In short, the crowds drank the Ben Mhor virtually dry, so we turned round and headed back to our hotel, only to find that the bar was closed until 5:30 pm!
Eight thirsty boys eventually found the Garth Hotel - no ale, but bottles of Trade Winds kept us going for a while:
Dinner and pre and post dinner drinks went down well and before we all knew it, it was Monday morning and we were back at Boat of Garten once more. The first group - aka The Duffers - set off:
It turned out pretty nice - although only Les and I risked the shorts. Les made a charge on the front nine and closed the gap to just 3 points on me and 5 points on Peter, but I rallied on the back nine, whilst Peter tired and Les faded a little. In the end it was a fairly comfortable win for me - my 5th in all - by 6 points, with a very healthy total of 75 points - a total that has only been surpasssed once (Syd's 76 in May last year) in the last decade or so. Here's Jas handing over the trophy:

I will be organising the next event - our 55th - next May - 12th/13th - get it in your diaries now. There are over 20 players who have attended the outing in the past and are still around and available, and my ambition is to get as many of them - plus some who haven't been before - to come along to what is our Senior, and - along with the Quaich - our flagship event. Watch this space for more news.
