The annual end of season Challenge match went ahead today in conditions that improved steadily as the morning went on, ending up in bright, warm sunshine. As usual, there had to be substantial creative accounting when it came to selecting the RoW team, particularly given a number of late cancellations. In the end we were reduced to 5 fourballs, with 15 gents and 5 ladies. Particular thanks go to Eileen Cook for cheerfully accepting her lot as the odd woman out who had to play in a fourball with 3 men, partnering husband Archie as token Thailand representatives.
Janice Fulford acted as official photographer as most of the players gathered on the first tee:
We had to then get a photo with Janice in it as well:
The car park was littered with random displays of rampant nationalism:
Some players went further and adorned their trolleys too:
The lack of perspective on the above photo disguises how close to the 2nd tee Harry was when playing his approach shot to the green at the 2nd hole.
It was a slow round and there was plenty of time for chatting and even taking long-range photos - this one from the 12th tee as Rob seemed to have some problems with the burn:
Gathering back in the clubhouse we were joined by Annette Gray, Gordon & Lynda Moir, Myra Orr, Christeen Pollard, Moira Salter, Frances Simpson and Jo Stewart for a superb 2 course buffet lunch, followed by the prizegiving. The results went as follows:

So the Rest of the World retained the trophy they won for the first time in its 9 year history last year, and captain Pollard looked very pleased at the result:
The winning team lined up after lunch for the traditional photo:
Another great day out. Rob has some more photos which he may publish in due course.
