IC XIV - belated blogs (6)

The final day of this year's Iberian Cup was nicely set up. Malcolm was in pole position with a best 4 score of 123 points with, potentially, a 26 point score to drop. I was in a virtual equal 2nd place on 117 points, but with a 25 point score still to drop, the gap was really 5 points - assuming we both improved our scores. Ken, similarly, had a net 5 points to make up on Malcolm.

Dick was a virtual 6 points behind, as was Syd - and these five were seen as the main contenders. It was probably the first time that we'd had so many in apparent contention on the last day.

It was the second consecutive day at one of the Sheraton Arabella courses - this time Son Quint. It was as nicely set up as Son Vida had been the day before, but Son Quint looked a lot more open - and so it proved.

Our first near altercation was before we got to the first tee, when the starter spotted that Jas was wearing a crew neck shirt. "Sorry, sir - you have to wear a collared shirt on this course". "But I don't have one with me", protested Jas.

Time passed and eventually we headed off to the first tee with Jas skulking behind his buggy as the Marshal drove over to see us off the first tee. Nothing was said and Jas thought that perhaps they had forgotten about him, but we were barely half way up the fairway when another Marshal came roaring over with a shirt in his hand, insisting Jas change into it, which he duly did:

To cut to the chase, Ken blew us all away with a best of the week score of 38 points, and he presented himself with the ball at the pool at the golf club - ironically by now having changed in to a round collared t-shirt!:

So all that was left was to gather up all the stats and hold the prize-giving before dinner. Jas, the holder, handed over the trophy to Ken, who had just missed out last year:

So that's all the belated blogs back up to date again. All that remains is the stats - bet you can't wait!
