Four of us took advantage of the SGU offer to play Trump on Monday - the very last day the £75 offer (one third of the full price and one half of the Aberdeenshire residents offer) was available.
We got lucky with the weather - the showers didn't start until we were safely back in the clubhouse. Here we are on the first tee, with the clubhouse behind us to the north:
The next three were taken at the beautiful par 3 third hole:
The dunes are truly fantastic. The starter's advice to us was to play off the white tees (for handicaps 9-16 he said), but move forward to the green tees when playing in to the wind. It turned out to be very good advice. He also suggested that for balls lost in the deep rough on the dunes, just drop one at the nearest point under penalty - even when there's no red stakes.
There's black, yellow and blue tees as well - plus red/ladies' tees, making 6 tees in all. At the long par 5 fifteenth hole, we walked up to the top of the dunes to have a look from the back tee:
An awesome experience. The bunkers are something else - every ball seems to run in to them and they're well nigh impossible to get out of, particularly if you're anywhere near the front of them.
I said on the day before we went there that I would be happy with 20 points - and I made it - just. Two of our number were unable to even reach that.
