DC XVII day 3

Best day yet - got up to a nice 20C at QdL Laranja. It's been nowhere near as nice, weather-wise as our trip last year, but we've dodged a few weather bullets and been able to play in pleasant conditions, albeit with the odd sweater or two. Let's hope it's dry tomorrow as well.

We were just 7 today and lined up on the first tee for yet another team photo:

The 3rd hole was nearest the pin (won by Malcolm) but Keith just scraped on to the bottom of the green - well over 100 feet away from the pin across a heavily undulating green. Malcolm offered him 3 putts from there and I, as Keith's partner said "we'll take it!" Well, blow me, but didn't Keith go and hole it - much to the consternation of our opponents Syd and Malcolm. This is how it looked:

That was one of the few moments of glory for us as Syd gradually wore us down with par after par. He finished with an excellent score of 34 points, having screwed up the 18th. Here he is receiving his prize from Dick:

Syd also got the other NP and Keith got the Longest Drive - just.

The course was in excellent condition - especially the greens, which were brilliant and even faster than yesterday at Palmares, where 4 and 5-putting was frequent. There is a but, however - a few in our midst thought the course was a trifle bland and boring, although the rest of us thought it was OK.

The revised leader board with one day left is (scores to drop in the right hand column):

Freeman, Syd 94 27
Gray, Les 89 25
Davies, John 87 23
Taylor, Dick 81 25
Gray, Keith 77 23
Stewart, Ian 75 23
Grigor, Malcolm 73 21
