Fife outing

It was our annual trip to the spiritual home of golf on Friday and we again played the Eden course. Here's the team photo at the start:

Chris Dickinson, Malcolm Grigor, Syd Freeman, Les Gray, Peter Street, Rob Pollard, Brian Hanson, Dick Taylor, Ian Sharp, Keith Gray, Harry Salter & Ian Stewart.
The weather was very kind to us and we got round dry, despite the rain circling the area. After golf, we retired to the Whey Pat for refreshments, food and the prize-giving, which was:

  • Individual Stableford:
    • Winner - Ian Stewart (37)
    • 2nd - Keith Gray (37)
    • 3rd - Malcolm Grigor (35)
  • Nearest the Pins:
    • 5th - Syd Freeman
    • 15th - Rob Pollard
  • Longest Drive:
    • 16th - Malcolm Grigor
  • Team (best 3 at each hole):
    • Winners - Grigor, Sharp, Dickinson & (K) Gray (118)
    • 2nd - Salter, Stewart, Hanson & Taylor (112)
    • 3rd - Freeman, (L) Gray, Pollard & Street (110)
  • Match:
    • Low(er) Handicappers 2 High(er) Handicappers 1
It was the second year in a row that I won this, both times with 37 points and both times on countback (last year from Syd).

Another great day out.

As a late addition to last Wednesday's photos from the Quaich, here's Keith trying an impossible shot at the 3rd hole:

Even Phil Mickelson would have struggled to get the ball up and over the wall from here with his famous parachute shot - as Keith ably demonstrated - and not just once either. He eventually bounced far enough back from the dyke to get the ball on the green.
