The Terry Edmonds Memorial Outing XIII

We dodged a major bullet yesterday. There had been frequent heavy showers in Banchory in the morning and it looked likely for a while that the outing would be rained off for the 3rd time, but as we drove up Deeside, the skies lightened a little and we decided to go ahead - after negotiating sign-on green fees with the pro.

The first group escaped dry, but the other 2 groups got caught in a shower over the last 2 holes - but it could have been a whole lot worse.

For the second time this week, Malcolm showed us what great form he is in. New clubs, and, most crucially, a new thick grip for his putter, have elevated his game. He scored 40 points, just pipping his foursomes partner, Gary, by a point. It was a 1-2-3 for the local Aboyne members with Syd coming in 3rd with 34 points (on countback from Nigel).

Malcolm had to rush off after golf as he had a dinner to attend. We felt certain he would turn out to be the winner, but he refused to count his chickens and was very reluctant to pose for a mock photo with the trophy before he scuttled off. I just managed to catch this quick shot of him:

I then took this one of the trophy, thinking I might photoshop it in to the above shot:

Malcolm also won the 2 Nearest the Pin prizes but Jack denied him the clean sweep by taking the Longest Drive prize. The first team out - Malcolm, Bill W and I - won the team prize.

This was Malcolm's 4th win in this event - the best by far. Just time for the usual team photo:

Jack Simpson, Peter Street, Ian Stewart, Dick Taylor, Syd Freeman, Linda Edmonds, Gary Grant, Nigel Meany, Dan Corbett, Bill Whyman and Gordon Moir
