IC XVIII day 2

It was the long journey up to Buenavista in the north west corner of the island. We kind of expected our driver to take us the long way round the motorway - much longer but flatter and easier to drive - but he took a slightly new (to us) route which meant a climb up and over the mountains with steep hairpin curves and death-defying drops below - not quite as bad as the route we took when we first went there over a decade ago - but still pretty scary, especially when our old coach had every red light on the dashboard lit up throughout the journey. We thought our time had come.

The return journey with a different (female) driver was just as scary, but in a different way. When we got up in to the mountains, we hit some dense low cloud and our driver discovered that the coach wipers weren't working - and nor were the demisters. Frequent stops were required to attempt to clear the windscreen. By now, it was dark and the headlights of the oncoming traffic didn't help, but she got us there in the end.

Today is a much shorter journey to Costa Adeje, thank goodness.

It was all JD again yesterday - John matched his 32 points at Las Americas and received the winner's ball from Malcolm:

Jas and I got the NP's and Malcolm the LD and the other scores were:

IRS - 26
MSG - 25
WRM - 22
JSB - 22
RJT - 21

The Freewheelers lost again and are now 2-0 down in the week-long series.

Those that have been to Buenavista before will remember the rock shapes in the distance, including the hole, which Dick is trying to point to here:

Not quite. Another failed attempt came on the 10th tee, where autofocus got confused by the grass blown across the lens - and the dragonfly that flew past:
