IC XVIII - final day's golf

My having to dip out of the return to Las Americas yesterday at least gave Paul a chance to play the course. He had originally wanted to join us but the course was absolutely full and he couldn't get on, so it's an ill wind etc.

Paul took full advantage winning virtually everything in sight - 35 point individual winner, longest drive and nearest the pin plus, to boot, he won the sweep to guess the number of blobs as well! Here's Dick doing the presentation on Jas' behalf:

Jas came next with 34 and John third with 32, cementing his overall victory with a best 4 score of 131 - 12 better than second placed Jas. We spent the afternoon sunning ourselves and then did the prizegiving on a quiet terrace at dusk:

Whoops - wrong timer on my camera - no way could I make it back there in 2 seconds!
The Rest/RoW had just pipped the FW's/Scotland by 2 points in the final day's match, so the overall result was 4-2 in favour of Rest/Row - a portent of things to come as it happened.

Nothing stupid happened all week - we couldn't think of any nominations for the Wee Cup, which Ken had delivered to me on the eve of our departure. I noted that the cup was last inscribed in 2011. The following year was a blank year, but Ken was clear winner in 2013, 2014 and 2015, but, unlike the World Cup, he doesn't get to keep it by winning it three times in a row - but make that four now Ken, as it was unanimously decided to award it to him again - in absentia - for not having it engraved and for him being the reason we didn't arrange to go to Abama and Hotel Jardin Tropical this year!

We watched the first half of the England - Scotland match in the hotel bar, then scurried off to El Molino Blanco for dinner:

After that, it was down to Temple Bar for the winner's drinks - and what a great time we had there:

Walking home, at precisely 1:11 am, we noted the temperature:

We fly back this afternoon (Saturday) and are spending the morning at the pool. The guys gave me a new hat for organising the event (my last), so I thought I'd better model it:

Discussions last night about next year focussed on a return to Tenerife in November, staying at Jardin Tropical. John is taking on the mantle of organising the event so watch this space.
