On the week of what would have been Terry's 73rd birthday, we all gathered at Aboyne GC once again to compete for the trophy for the 18th time. We were joined on this occasion, not only by Linda and defending champion Paul, but also by Terry's daughter Alison for the first time - and both Paul and Alison brought their whole families along to make it a special occasion.
Most of us left Banchory with dark foreboding - cool, damp, with heavy skies and a dodgy forecast for the afternoon, but by the time we arrived in Aboyne, there was no sign of rain and the temperature had lifted substantially and it turned out to be a fine afternoon. The course was in great nick and we all enjoyed the experience.
Paul and Ken won the NP's and Harry the LD. The individual stableford scores were fairly respectable with the majority in the 30's. We had to resort to countback for 3rd place with Ken, myself, Raymond and Les all scoring 33 points, but Les had the best inward nine (20 points) so took the prize ball, donated once more by Linda.
Rob took 2nd place with a fine 35 points, but the winner once again on his home turf was Malcolm with 36 points - a total he initially was disappointed with, having gone to the turn in 22 points.
We all gathered before our meal for the team photo:
