Boat of Garten - the alternative outing

COVID-19 had put paid to our May trip to Boat of Garten, but we had a nice friendly four ball there today - and what a scorcher it was! In the end, only four of us managed along, but we had a nice friendly match in glorious sunshine - and the course was looking good.

Note suitable social distancing in the team photos:

Too bright

Ian managed a tidy par-3 at the first hole to give himself a nice 3-point start, whilst Gordon and John scored 2 points each and I blobbed, losing a ball off the tee in what was to be an omen for the rest of my round.

The match was John and Gordon against Ian and I - and it was a complete walkover with the former pair trouncing the two Ians by 6 and 5. The individual stableford scores reveal how this came about:
  • Gordon - 35
  • John - 28
  • Ian -23
  • Me - 19
We had soup and sannies outside afterwards. Gordon had brought some balls along as prizes, but took all bar one of them back home with him, taking the individual win, nearest the pin and longest drive, whilst John got a ball for 2nd place:

The question of engraving the trophy came up and it was suggested that we just put an asterisk against May, 2020 - obviously our friendly fourball couldn't qualify as an "official" competition.
