Final night of Quaich/2020 Challenge

Hugh's done all the match reports and stats for the Quaich but I have a few photos from Wednesday plus the results from the Challenge match:

Rob brought the Challenge trophy along so the afternoon 12 lined up before the start for a team separated but not entirely socially distanced team shot:

Three questions:
  • Where was Keith?
  • Why is Jack hedging his bets as to which side to play on?
  • Why is John M wearing his mask?
Hugh reported about our group's fantastic four 2's at the 3rd - here's where the tee shots landed:

Harry's was a gimme then Malcolm (top right) holed his 5-6 footer, followed by me (bottom right), then an under pressure Gordon (left) his 4-footer. An unprecedented event.

Hugh presents the Quaich to Gordon in the clubhouse:

If you look carefully between the two of them, Harry is chatting away to Keith, pretending there's nothing else going on.

Having been washed out for this year's Challenge matchplay event on Sunday, to complete our never to be repeated (we hope) 2020 season there was a slight change of scoring for this year's Challenge. Matchplay wasn't possible so it had to be the aggregate (or average if teams uneven) stableford scores to count.

9 Scots and 7 R.o.W. played and with the top 5 scores on the day all coming from Scots, there was little doubt who the winning team was going to be. Scotland's average score on the day was 34.2 against RoW's 29.3. Even if Nigel's injury interrupted score of 15 is excluded from RoW's aggregate, their average score is still only 31.7, so a resounding victory (again) for Scotland - the 10th time the trophy has stayed with the hosts, with 2 matches having been declared ties in the 17 years we have been running this event.

All that remained was for Hugh to take the winning team's photo:
