We did the presentation to Syd in a quiet corner of the Golfer's Lounge:
It was Syd's 4th win in the Desert Classic - one behind Malcolm and one more than Nigel. Syd's top 4 score of 135, excluding the Meany streak 2007-9, gave him the ever highest winning margin (11 points). Malcolm was runner-up on 124 and I was a further 4 points behind in 3rd place.
Kenneth won the Eclectic with 53 points, with Keith and I equal second. All the rest of the stats to follow later.
We surmised about potential future destinations. A return trip to Cape Town next January was pretty popular, given that there is a body of opinion that our next trip to Turkey should possibly be later that year on the Iberian Cup in 2013. No conclusions - only ideas.
After dinner in the splendid buffet, we went to the Moulin Rose lounge to watch the Champions League semi-final for the second night in a row. It was after midnight Turkish time when we got round to the penalty shoot-out and whilst some of us were enjoying ourselves, others couldn't take the pace:
Where was Richard? You guessed it - at the Karaoke, seeking his moment in the sun to enrich yet another country's culture with his version of House of the Rising Sun - but he never got called up - it was too busy!
