It was our 15th Summer Tour, starting in Ayr in 1999 - that was one of only 5 ST's to be held in Scotland - the others being Highland (Dornoch), Linlithgow, East Kilbride and, last year, Dumfries & Galloway. In 2002, in the year before the EK trip, we went to Dublin, but all the others since 2004 have been in England.
A total of 22 players have taken part over the years, with Jas the only ever present. This was our 4th trip to Slaley Hall and everyone who was there said how much they liked it. Certainly, the 2 courses were in magnificent condition - we'd never seen them looking better - and the brilliant weather definitely helped make it a memorable weekend.
After a couple of unfortunate late withdrawals, we were just 9 in number this year - the same as last year - but this made it very sociable and easily "managed".
I won the trophy again this year - for the 5th time since 2001. (The winners of the first 2 outings are, I'm afraid, lost in the mists of time.) Here's last year's winner, Ian, presenting me with the trophy, with Monty looking on - admiringly, no doubt:
The 3 days' points totals were:
Stewart, Ian | 93 |
Miller, Bill | 85 |
Gray, Keith | 84 |
Taylor, John | 82 |
Gray, Kenneth | 80 |
Pollard, Rob | 80 |
McRae, Ian | 71 |
Street, Peter | 68 |
Bhagrath, Jas | 66 |
Great fun - looking forward to next year, which will hopefully include the return of a few who missed out this year.
