I've updated the database and it's now available on the Yahoo site at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/BanchorySquashVeteransGolf/files/Summer%20Quaich/
The top 4 positions all changed last night, with both Chris and Dan leapfrogging Steve and I respectively. These are the only four who, realistically, have a chance of winning this year's Quaich. Summary stats for the current top 10 are:
Top 10 | To drop | To level | Wins | DoD's
Dickinson, Chris | 363 | 33 | 33 | 2 | 2 |
Fulford, Steve | 361 | 33 | 35 | 4 | 1 |
Corbett, Daniel | 358 | 31 | 36 | 2
Stewart, Ian | 357 | 33 | 39 | 4 | |
Riches, Hugh | 348 | 31 | 46 | 2 | |
Sharp, Ian | 343 | 32 | 52 | 1 | 2 |
Taylor, Dick | 337 | 29 | 55 | 2 | 2 |
Pollard, Rob | 336 | 30 | 57 | 3 | |
Simpson, Jack | 328 | 30 | 65 | 1 | 3 |
Meaden, John | 309 | 28 | 82 | 3 |
Dan is the one with the lowest score to drop, so he is only a virtual 3 points behind Chris. The scores each of us must make next week to level with Chris' current Top 10 score of 363 are shown in the 3rd column of figures.
Hopefully, somebody will get a good score and beat Gary's winning total of 366 last year, which was the lowest total ever to win. There must be a possibility of the Top 10 scores being tied - if so, the countbacks are:
- Most weekly wins
- Least weekly DoD's
- Total points scored (from all games)
The last time the Quaich went to countback was in 2008, when Rob pipped Gary because he played more often. Les also won on countback (from Dave Williamson, of all people!) in 2003 on the basis of more weekly wins. Dan is the one who can't win on any of the countback criteria this year, so he must establish a clear points difference (which means he must score a minimum of 37 points next week).
All 4 contenders are playing - Dan is first off at 16:07, followed by Steve and I at 16:15. Chris is not tee-ing off until 16:52. Traditionally, the top 3 contenders go out first on the last night of the Quaich, but I don't know if it's possible for Chris to play as early as 16:07 or not?
To finish, a couple of photos from last night. First Les presents Hugh with his prize ball:

Les hasn't grown - he was standing on his tiptoes! |
Secondly, when we were leaving the clubhouse, we discovered this unsigned card lying on our table:
It wasn't that bad, Harry!
